Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to play bubble, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, zoom, captions, voice control or other assistive technology.
Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA across playbubble.app. bubble is a free site run by one person, so we test and fix as we go rather than through a formal outside audit.
What we've done
- Checked every page in dark and light mode with automated accessibility testing, then by hand, and fixed what we found.
- Text and buttons are colored to meet WCAG contrast levels in both modes, and form fields have visible edges.
- Every page can be used with a keyboard: a "Skip to content" link comes first, menus open with Enter or Space and close with Escape, focus always shows, and pop-ups keep focus inside them until closed.
- Ranking lists you'd normally drag (the AP poll and the CFP bracket) also move with the arrow keys or the Up, Down and "Move to" controls.
- Buttons, menus, pop-ups and form fields have labels screen readers can read, decorative emojis and icons are hidden from them, and sign-in errors and pop-up messages are read out.
- If your device is set to reduce motion, animations and sliding effects are switched off.
- The site works when zoomed to 200% and on small phone screens, and pinch-zoom is never blocked.
Known limits
- Timed games: some trivia games and live races against friends are timed, because the clock is part of the game. If a time limit stops you from playing, tell us and we'll look at an untimed option.
- Pin Drop asks you to point to a place on a map or globe, which is hard without a mouse or touch screen.
- Team colors follow each team's real colors. We always show the team name or abbreviation too, so color is never the only way to tell teams apart.
- Outside content such as live scores comes from other providers and may not always be fully accessible.
Tell us about a problem
If something on bubble is hard or impossible for you to use, please tell us. Email hello@playbubble.app with the page and what went wrong (and what device, browser or assistive technology you use, if you're happy to share). We'll reply within 5 business days and work with you on a fix, or help you get what you need another way in the meantime.
